Does anyone have any experience of either the deep swinging moorings off Priddy's Hard or the free floating pontoon in Cold Harbour they are willing to share please? Also, if anyone can shed any light on how the launch service from Haslar works for the swinging moorings, such as time or tide limitations. In an ideal world we would prefer a mooring which was not tide dependant as we have had this for the last 6 years and it has been a bit of a pain at times. Thanks as ever.

I had a mooring of Priddy's Hard many years ago before it was developed. The launch service does not run from Haslar, but from a jetty near the Hardway Sailing Club, which is probably worth joining. The moorings are run by Gosport Boatyard, as is the launch, and their website may well have the launch running times. The Hardway Sailing has a long jetty with a hammerhead which you moor up to, they also have scrubbing grids with HP washers. You might like to check out the parking, there was a free car park about 100 yards away, but I don't know if it is still there since the redevelopment. I cannot comment on the Cold Harbour pontoon.

For the RNSA launch service from Haslar/Hornet best you get up to date advice from the RNSA office.

Basically you call up on your mobile and say whenabouts you want picking up and you'll get fitted in with whatever else is already planned, bearing in mind there's only one launch and a round trip takes a good while.

However the service doesn't work late and not every day of the week.

Otherwise a very flexible and cheerful service!

Thanks for the advice. We have heard the launch service is very friendly but not sure how restricted we would be with tides and times. I have messaged Jon from the RNSA moorings office who is really helpful, so hopefully he will be able to answer my questions after the weekend. Just really need to know where we get the launch from. I'm thinking it's from Haslar but am not sure. If so, then obviously there is secure parking. Have tried to find the mooring he suggested on the RNSA website but it was far too complicated for me, but to be fair I struggle with a microwave so it's no reflection in their website!

The secure parking is likely to be in Fort Blockhouse for which you will need a pass from the Guardroom and likely an application form from the RNSA office. Its a bit of a faff but once done that's it.

We are moored on the floating pontoon, if it helps send me a pm.

Pete
