I am booked for 2 weeks hols starting Saturday, planning to sail - France, maybe, Scillies, more likely or turn left out of Falmouth, if all else looks 'iffy'.

BUT

Metcheck and XC weather are both giving loads of showers and/or winds to 26mph up to Wednesday of next week for this Area.

So what do the combined mind of Forumites think is a good gamble?

Go anyway or wait for a week and start the hols that bit later and hope that the weather has improved?

Wait for a week, the weather looks like being crap fro at least 5-6 days with a possible high starting up towards the end of next week. Look at this way, you know it is going to be crap this w/e, if it is crap next w/e conidtions won't be any worse....

If the forecast looks crappy and you are in a position to postbone without loss, I would hang fire and see how things pan out.

I only go if I need to go, and if it's not forecast to be so bad as to be dangerous.

Alternatively, you might like a week pottering on the boat, doing the odd job, watching the world go by, without the distractions of a trip.

Hummm... dont look too clever for sailing.... i'm on holiday the following week. hoping for solent to falmouth areathe following weekend then south back via the CI's

Depends on your boat, crew and experience. 4 strong crew on a Contessa 38 would say great, let's go straight to Camaret, we won't have to motor! You and SWMBO who doesn't like it rough on a smaller boat may probably want to delay.... We cancelled our planned 2 week trip to the Scillies because of 2 recent gales (after superb weather there in the last 2 years). /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif The weather in the Fal was wonderful over Easter though - it really did feel like a summer holiday! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
