Posting photos

i have found "Photobucket"very usefull for storing pictures to be shown on here. Sometimes when you copy the url from the pictures proprties there will be extra digits or a question mark after "jpg" delete anything after jpg before posting or it doesnt work.

Pictures on photobucket are allready a sensible size so dont worry about resizing compressing or whatever.

Stage 1, open photobucket account (its free )upload some pics onto it.

Stage 2,open the pic you want and either copy the url from the box below or right click on the pic and select properties.

stage 3 blue out the url and copy it.

stage 4 start your post on scuttlebut then click on "image" in the box.

STAGE 5 COPY YOUR URL ON THE IMAGE BOX make sure it finishes with jpg or jpeg.
It should now appear in your post when you post it.

Use the "preview post"option until you master it or you will pee everyone off with your mistakes like I did /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bother beaten to it by a few seconds!

However i can make some additional comments which may be useful

1. If it frightens you ignore all the section about PIXresizer beccuse you can resize the pic as you upload it to photobucket by clicking on "Uploading Options" and selecting the appropriate option. If the pic is to be displayed here then that is "message board"
Alternatively if you have a photo editing program you can use that to resize the pic before resaving it to you hard drive, but under a different name (and as a .jpg file) so as to retain the original.

2. To copy the url of the image to your clipboard the procedure has changed. Just (left) click on the words IMG Code. At present the word "copied " is not appearing inthe right place but i guess that is a temporary gremlin

Sorry Graham not all that is correct.

The sizes are not necessarily sensible. They can be way too big to fit the screen. thats why they have to be resized first or with the "Uploading Options" yours is probably set to a sensible size which is retained. I'm not sure what the default is though.

What you say about copying the url was true but has changed although the old way still works. Just do it the way I have alredy said

You do not have to use "Image" from the "Instant Mark up" box. All you need to do is paste the IMG code that you have copied to your clipboard diectly into the post as it is complete with the IMG and /IMG tags. In fact what you suggest leads to spurious IMG tags appearing in your post. Resist the temptation to add a full stop if it is at the end of a sentence though. That does bu**er things up.

If you save the pic to your hard drive as a .jpg to begin with then it will come through as a .jpg
Photobucket will accept other formats which the Forums will not!

Why doesn't this forum work like others do? Just click on an "attach photo" button and then browse to the file required, like sending an email?
It's ridiculous to have to upload them to another site, and then post a link.

[/ QUOTE ] The reason has been given but it is ridiculous to add a second post 1 minute after the first to add 1 line when it could be done with the edit button!
