What is the best way of adding an image from the iPad photo library to a forum post? If I go to the Manage Attachments page, the "Manage Attachments/Add Files/Upload from your computer" option, the "Choose file" option is greyed out. The only other way I can think of doing it is to email the picture to myself open it in a nearby PC and post to the forum from there.

How dorky is that for an 'easy to use' operating system? There has to be a better way.

its not the operating system's fault.... its the forum software not supporting mobile devices (who'd have thought that IPC would be behind the times.......)

I use Photobucket, upload the image and then use a URL... also helps me keep my images all backed up.

+1 for Photobucket - they have a free app which lets you upload pictures from your iPad to their site, then get a piece of code to paste into the forum. Sadly IPC (at the ill-informed insistence of their bosses) have also deliberately broken the normal link mechanism so several of the link styles available from Photobucket don't work.

Uploading stuff directly to the forum is only a short-term option anyway, you swiftly hit your quota of upload space and can't use it any more. That's why I now use Photobucket even from my desktop.

Can you not do it using the "insert image" tool on the formatting toolbar .

Click the icon, select "from computer" if not the default , then click "select files" and browse to the files you want to upload.

Usually I use Photobucket but have occasionally used the old "attachment" method and recently the new method as above.

Another vote for the Photobucket app. Really quick and easy to use.

I use the photobucket app also, works well. But worryingly, I keep seeing notices that the 'new' version of it will be launched in a few days. When they did the same a few weeks ago it was dreadful but the option to revert to the original one was available. The latest notice seems to suggest that they will not offer this option again. Let's hope I am reading more into it than there really is.

Ipads do not have a "file" system as you are thinking, so you cannot browse it.

Photobucket or Dropbox or Flickr are the only approach. I prefer Photobucket as the ipad app is really easy to use.

.

Not totally correct. Many programmes let you select from 'Existing' which is in fact the Photos ... Camera Roll folder on iPad and iPhone.

See here ... a screen print automatically loaded into Photos then copied here using Manage Attachments.

I was able to browse Photos before uploading.

It's easy peasy on iPad :
Manage attachments........add file........choose file .....existing......browse photos.....tap on photo.. Upload.

Done!

Er, bit thick here, can't get it to work. OK up to the ".....existing", well I don't have that, I can only see "Upload files from your computer" and that doesn't work.

Could it be because I am on OS5,1? I have not upgraded because out here on dodgy Internet land (most of the world) I cannot guarantee to get the huge download and I cannot afford to crash the system with a half download. I have learnt that from half App updates which lock up until you can get the rest.
