Well, I was dreading the weekend. Wife organised some farm place to rent near Honiton with two other couples and five children under 7. Got there and found we'd been upgraded to their newest place (completed in May). Six bedroom and fantastic views of Otter valley.

Saturday: Slight hangover. Weather was fantastic so went to Beer. Sat on beach and watched people actually swimming (Yes, in OCTOBER!). No sign of any power boating. I imagine folks crossing Lyme bay would be well offshore and not visible. Had a drink overlooking the bay. Evening, went to pub with the lads whilst girls cooked dinner.

Sunday: Slightly worse hangover. Went to Lyme Regis. Hot and sunny again! Sat on Cobb and watched the lifebout return from exercises. Various extremely noisy powerboats being launched and recovered. Got a bit muddy trying to have a look at a Mariah on a swinging mooring in the dried out harbour. Ate ice cream and fish and chips.

Monday: Went to some 'theme park' place (on a farm) near Exeter. Still, you can't win 'em all. Got back to Glos in 90 minutes without collecting any tickets.

All in all very enjoyable.

I was diving off Beer on Saturday, but as we were about 3 miles out you probably couldn't see us. A super day, sunny and warm with a good haul of shellfish.

Both Beer and Lyme Regis are great places, expect they weren't overly busy?
