Some time last Nov. I contacted the Customs and Immigration folks on our S. Atlantic outpost looking for documentation on my boat's vist there prior to the cut off date for the RCD. A very nice policewoman, Janella, promptly provided the evidence I needed and, of course, I was thrilled. Ha Ha I thought, coming on Christmas. send a small token of appreciation and a card. (photo of me, swmbo and our girls) and a silk headscarf. Heard nothing by mid Feb. so sent an email to see if small package had arrived. Nada. Not until yesterday!! Puts things in perspective for those of us with Next day delivery.

Re: Post to St. Helena/Pig Ferry

Around the time time of the Falklands the ship I was on was chartered to the Navy. They used it to ferry a replacement Boar pig to Ascenion Is ( second eng made a pigsty on the fiddle deck ) and I was on for a ferry trip for some Saints to get to work on A I. Great place to visit and boy did the local lasses know how to party. Had a cocktail party on board and Governor came with his plumed hat. Heavy swell made even a 25,000t ship roll like a pig in the roads.
No airport of course and yo now have go via SA as the St Helena no comes to UK I believe.
