In the past have always praised Sealine for their policy of doing something a bit different design wise and hope they continue to do so and have always been a bit of a Princess man by default.
But are they are going to have to both raise their game a bit.
In the past, comments about quality of Sealine interiors and the staidness of Princess design have not really hit home.
The Squadron 42 really knocked my socks off with the quality of the mouldings and the sheer overall style put the other two in the shade in this particular class.
You would have expected a large price difference to account perhaps but speaking to both stands about boats specced to similar levels, there was not a lot in it.
Not familar with any continental boats but would have thought the 42 would be class leader.
Anybody else got any thoughts

Hmm, some of the blue hulled squadron 42 hulls have looked really bad when up close out of the water, ripples and poor joints, but for style there a very nice boat, not very quick even with the d6 435, forget buying one with the 370 hp motors as you would struggle to see 28knots when clean and light.

What about the princess 42, still one of my favourites and loads of room as your getting a 45ft boat.

The sealine is on ips so you get a different boat all together, nice style and huge though I was onone last week that had engine and drive issues, which I hope is sorted now, not a sealine issue ill add before I get slated, a green lump issue.

I'd still buy the p 42 should my numbers come up.

No innovation from any uk builders apart from sealine, and even the F42 is just a conventional layout with a big fly bridge - the others ate just shinny woodwork and squared of shapes.

For innovation look at the Bavaria 42 virtues and the Beneteau Monte Carlo 5 - both 42 feet is and both with a real raft of innovative features. Oh, and the both offer three full sized cabins and the Beneteau manages a crew cabin to boot.

I have to say that although I have only seen it in pictures I am pretty smitten with the MC5, I cant wait to see one in the flesh...

I wasn't blown away by the Fairline, too many sharp corners and the Sealine F42 is clever but I just don't like the overall design, I wouldn't buy one
I liked the layout of the Jeaneau Prestige 450, I think the Monte Carlo 5 is a 50 footer

Preferred the nice big chunky flybridge screens on the Sealine F42.

Squadron 42 was all very nice: Fairline do interiors very well. But small screens on the flybridge means you'd lose the wig. I can't remember if it was the one with the ridiculously low railing for the seat beside the helm: one sneeze and you'd fall sideways to your doom.

Forgot about the Prestige range. Shame the new 450 doesn't manage the third cabin like the old 46. I do like the private cabin access though.

Yes, the MC5 is 49ft, but I mentioned that as an innovation thing. The MC4 will be more comparable

Didn't get onto the F42 (time ran out) but did spent 20 mins or so on the SC42.

The innovative cockpit was a real surprise, being able to move seating around to suit the situation would be of real value to me. I am still however puzzled why boat manufacturers think it is a good idea to put a grill/BBQ under the canopy?
