I have a Westerly discus (bridge deck version) and am trying to site a chart plotter/radar (Raymarine C80). Problems are ... below deck - inaccessible, washboard entry to main cabin too far away, on steering pedestal - too cramped and interferes with crew operating job sheets, side of cockpit - sore neck, so wondered what others had done?

Many thanks -

Remove compass from binnacle and put there. Then use handbearing compass or mount compass elsewhere

Any plotter should be able to show your heading, as COG from the GPS, and some can display the output of a fluxgate compass. The original steering compass is less necessary and could be replaced with a bulkhead compass next to the companionway.

Are you saying this is too far to be visible with enough accuracy by the helm?

Often (as in this case) by a newbie seemingly searching for something that interests them and not understanding the immediacy of most of the threads here. Usually get resolved in a couple of days and then folks move on. Might be interesting to do a bit of research on the level of activity once a post gets on the second screen.
