Looking for a power saw that is as versatile as possible -sliding for as wide a cut as poss, mitre and double bevel etc. as with boats, it will be a compromise. Any recommendations please? Not for heavy use.

I am looking for a similar item, and this sliding one (Makita LS0815FL) impresses for a number of reasons. It comes with decent reviews, and has a 110v version.

The maker of the video seems to have the best internet price, I think.

If a few others want one we might try for a discount ? :)

I had a Screwfix 'Titan' which lasted about a week. Replaced it with a 2nd hand Makita which has been going a few years now. I'm not generally a brand-snob but sometimes it's worth paying a bit extra.

I've had the Evolution Rage 3 - 210mm blade sliding mitre saw. Bought the first one 3 yrs ago after seeing the builders larger version, £99.99 from Screwfix. Excellent machine, used extensively. But it did pack up about a month ago, could have had it refurbished but limited warranty so bought another new one. Refurbished ones on ebay for about half price.

I don't think that a 3 year lifespan is very good....
