I would like to organise an event for next summer to celebrate the ten year anniversary of my business. Likely to be 40 - 50 people for a cruise, diner and perhaps a band.

Being married to my wife it will have to be smart (otherwise she won't go) so any suggestions appreciated as I would like to get someting booked.

I will sew up the holes in my boiler suit and promise to wear my best wellingtons and now await my invitation.By the way, exactly where is the Thames?
Ps.Do we have to bring our own meths/meat pies and will there be lots of posh totty to dribble at.

Nick,

MDL used to run (they may not now I don't know) a lovely wooden launch (it used to be one of HM's river launches) but I can't remember her name. She was based at Penton Hook but might have gone to Bray now. It might be worth a call to the marina there. I've had dinner on board whilst cruising and very pleasant it was to.

Boat is called Windrush but I dont think it would take 50. Ring Mike Gates at Bray for more info.
I agree about the Cruise&Dine boat, looks nice and modenish as well but dont know how good the catering is.

The Thames is sort of South of Watford, North of Winchester and a bit east of Bristol but wanders about a bit ........so difficult to say exactly.

Hi Nick
The MDL boat is Windrush IV, a beautiful 1968 teak launch designed by Bushnell and built by Moody and was the Thames Conservatory launch. She only holds twelve, however we normally have her at the Thames rally’s for viewing.
I do have a couple of ideas for your party and will PM you.

Try Hobbs at Henly. Boats from "New Orleans" paddle steamer( with catering, band etc) or "Hiberian" easily take 50 - all with bars

Nah - you want a proper River

Try the Best Spot for an alternative to the Thames - in the heart of England and easy to get to. The Severn is wonderful and the longest river in the UK.

I can get you a discount Nick as my mate has a few large 'Trippers'. The pickup point would be Reading. I would be interested especially if you make it a DJ do 'cos I like looking like James Bond on a bad day.
