Ok, this might seem an odd question, but i thought someone here might be able to help. I need to get from Portsmouth Harbour station to Haslar marina at one o'clock on a sunday morning. does anyone know a good taxi firm? and possibly how much they would charge? I've been told its not a safe place to hang around at night so i dont fancy a walk.

It's around 14 miles by road. If you can get there earlier, you can catch the ferry from Portsmouth Harbour across to Gosport, but that stops at midnight.

Sorry, don't know any taxi firms personally, but try these:

1st Airway Cars, 2 Halifax Rise, 023 9278 8988
A1 A Solent Services, 10/12 Queens Road, 023 9269 7777
A.A.A.Taxis, 10/12 Queens Road, 023 9278 1111
Airport Travel, 233 London Road, 023 9265 0202
Airports Direct, Suite 12 Charter House, 023 9273 4444
Aquacars, 149/151Somers Road, 023 9281 8123
City-Wide Taxis, 33 The Hard, 023 9275 5700
Strand Motors, Port Royal Street, 023 9273 0966
Streamline, 231 Goldsmith Ave, 023 9281 1111

We used Aqua taxis when we were down for the BUSA championships. Seemed reasonably priced.

You could try standing outside Joanna's nightclub opposite Southsea pier and start a fight with some matelots. The police will then rescue you and give you a free ride home.

Possibly. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

its about 25/30 quid in a taxi. best way is to get your mate from haslar to come over with his boat. if you are going to get a taxi get the train to somewhere like fareham then your only 4/5 miles from haslar. or even cosham is about 10 miles. be daft to go all the way to the harbour to get a taxi all the way back out!

Last Gosport ferry from Pompy station to Gosport at midnight, only a couple of quid each way. drop you just down from haslar marina.

(Just in case you can get to pompey before midnight). otherwise it's an expensive Taxi.

Thnks everyone, I didnt actually realise there was a station at fareham. So I think I'll try going there, it does seem a bit pointless to go all that way for nothing. Thank you all very much, you've been a great help. (im not sure about the nightclub bit though)

Sorry, I'm a bit late on this, but there is an "unofficial" ferry which goes the same route as the green one all night - believe it's £2.50 each way. Runs all night and the guy who takes the money is a giant of a man (probably needs to be the amount of trouble you can get that time of night!)
