Having been lucky enough to have done most of my racing under IRC or the ISC handicaps, I had always assumed that a yardstick handicap was used on the same basis (albeit reversed), ie that the eleapsed time is divided by the handicap to give the adjusted time.

Looking at the results of previous series on the club website, I am struggling to reconcile the elapsed with the adjusted and the handicap.

It could just be my maths or am I missing something more?

And what does BCE mean?

Portsmouth Yardstick is other way up!
Corrected time= (elapsed time divided by yardstick ) x 1000

So a big number is a slow boat.

Sometimes the corrected time is left in seconds. Sometime HrMinSec
The old numbers were around 100, so the multiplier above was 100 instead of 1000.

BCE is time behind winner in corrected time
BCR is rating that would be needed to draw with the winner

www.sailwave.com if you fancy becoming an expert/checking the results/etc.
This is the program many clubs use.
