There seems to be no smoke, no propwash, the cooling water outlet on the side doesn't alter, so some sort of mechanical failure. I went ahead off the Lizard, that was the last straw for my gearbox cable, which I found out 18 miles later when heading dead slow for the Penlee Lifeboat in Newlyn, Fortunately no. one son lassooed a cleat and we rammed the pontoon, slowly. I usually do a test stop away from trouble, but it wouldn't help if the failure occurs exactly at that point.
