Ports IB Registration

I apologise if this subject has been raised before but I have been trying to register on the Ports IB Spain website for moorings this summer in the Balearics...without success.....whoever administers this site needs shooting...does anyone have any insight in to how to register....it seems to acknowledge every country in the world apart from the UK....maybe its a result of Brexit already....it is however driving me mad..

I'd agree that its a frustrating site but it can be done - well it could a couple of years ago

It's nothing to do with Brexit, but it perhaps tells us something of the essence of Brexit.
Did you happen to notice that all the countries on the drop-down list were written in their Spanish form? Have a wild guess as to the meaning of 'Reino Unido'...

Nice one! Perhaps Brussels ought to insist it is written in French as well as it is one of the official EU languages.

Unlikely, the site hasnt changed much in 5 or 6 years - a bit of Google translate goes a long way

Exactly. The 'essence of Brexit' I mentioned has nothing to do with the website. Rather it's a quality revealed by the OP's encounter with the website. It might be rude actually to name it.

Perhaps. I was just poking fun at the idea that it was anything to do with Brexit and by implication the EU.

This idea that everything is the responsibility/fault of the EU and that Brexit will make it worse/better seems to be gaining ground.

Still I suppose something has to replace the "War" now that so few with direct adult experience of the war are no longer with us.

That is why I wrote it to satisfy both ends of the spectrum. Never understood why everything must be either "good" or "bad", whereas one's position on the continuum is based on the point where one outweighs the other.

Wow...a little light-hearted comment and I get ridicule and the wrath of the Brexit debate.... yes apologies for not realising and using a simple translate tool oh wise one's ....however it seems that was not the root of the problem...after having a very useful conversation (in Spanish I might add) with Pedro at IB Ports it appears they wouldn't take my registration because we are too big....their berths according to Pedro only cater for 12m x 4m.....which is a little odd to say the least, especially as the website asks and has choices for Catamarans....I don't know many Cat's under 4m beam !!

I registered last summer and must admit it was a bit painful, as after submitting the online application, with attachments, I heard nothing. So tried to book somewhere but was unable to, so I resubmitted the application with electronic copies of my CG66 (a voluntary form that has no official weight here) and it was accepted. I think Pedro may have been talking about where ever he was based, because I saw much bigger boats than our 11m boat on the moorings. Also I just tried booking Porto Cristo for a 15m boat and the system was quite happy to take such a reservation.
In summary I would try again.

I think you can only book a week or two weeks in advance. Can anyone confirm this as I am also trying to book for this summer.
