Good Day All,
Has anyone got any experience of removing and refitting the portlights on the Rival range especially the Rival 31 or 32?
It looks like the construction is very simple. The aperture in the coachroof is backed by thick plywood (18mm?) which has an aperture smaller than the coachroof. The glass is bonded to the plywood 'step' and the the external frame just sits over the edge of the glass holding in the glass or perhaps just acting as trim.
I have had a few leaks over which have been sealed from the outside but I think after 44 years the time has come to grasp the nettle and do the job properly.
Any experiences of the job on a Rival or any other boat with similarly designed portlight fitting would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone completely replaced the portlights with something a bit more modern and potentally more robust? (Just in case I break one when removing...!)
Regards..................Andrew
