Portishead lifeboat have submitted plans for a new station at thier current location.
Unbelieveable I know, but people are complaining about its possible visual impact!
IMO lifeboat stations have allways added to an area's aesthetics.
What next, they'll be complaining about the colour of the ships coming into Portbury and Avonmouth!

To be fair they already have planning permission for a new station in Pier Road I believe. The proposal for Sugar Loaf Bay involves a large slipway construction, and loss of public space, both of which will have a major visual impact. Local residents aren't best pleased as you can imagine - the correspondent in the local rag is supportive of the Lifeboat Trust, but doesn't like the plan as it stands, so I wouldn't personally describe them as eejits /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Yet, anyway /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

St Davids is also getting a new station. It will probably affect out mooring down there, and will be a huge amount of work, nestled in amongst the cliffs. I've heard no opposition at all. An alternative plan a few years back was to knock it down and cover the area with Angle and Fishguard. There was a lot of opposition to that.

Why aren't they building the new lifeboat station by the marina?
"eejit" is my new word.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif....no offence intended
