A few boats from CYC have a tentative plan to head up to Portishead for Saturday afternoon, returning Sunday morning. Weather forecasts are changing, so we won't be sure until later this week, but if anyone fancies joining us/meeting us at Portishead for a small glass of sherry, that would be good.

I think you are currently referring to those 4.7 Meter waves being forecast off Port Talbot on Saturday.

You might be right, they might hold up progress a bit /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Just hoping the weather is good for Easter!

Fri - Cardiff
Sat - Swansea
Sun - Watchet via Lundy
Mon - Bristol

Last time we planed that trip we spent a week in Cardiff!
Had a great time though, went to the castle, did the open top bus tour (would recomend that - even for locals), drunk loads of beer! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

sounds good sneds if the weather is good may see you on the way all serviced and ready to go /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Good news - I'll be off duty at 7pm, so a small snifter would definitely be in order!

Look, I'm new to this yachting stuff, so I'm not sure what a small snifter is. It's either a sail, or that thing you use to stop the anchor chain from banging in the night, am I right?

Weather forecast keeps changing, but we are dead keen. May be a few of us, but look for Ishtar or Alana, both 28 footers. It would be good to catch up with forumites. I'll try and remember me burgee. I do fly it when I remember.

My missus would hate to be called a snifter /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If i can persuade her we will come. Since new cutlass bearing etc it will be first sea trial so see what happens. I'm sure Damo will give us a reduced rate!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There was a Wayfarer which came in first lock one day last summer - one tiny boat in a very deep lock. The skipper asked for a reduced rate because he had such a little boat, so I asked if he would like to be charged at cost price. Of course he would, until he found out that running one deep lock was about 5 times the berthing fee /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can't make it (shame): Cervisia's out of the water at the moment and I'm off running at the weekend.

I enjoy the sail from Cardiff to Portishead. Say "hi" to the Avon buoy for me. It always feels like home when I pass that. Take lots of photos and post them here!

If we go, I will. I will also try and get a photo of the elusive snifter.

what time are you thinking of locking out tommorow? Were going out for a sail over the low tide, probably lock back in an hour or two after LW.

Martin, have arranged baby sitter for the evening so hopeing to join you, if the weather's ok.
I'm in Pembroke all day Saturday though (going to the darkside - driving a RIB!), so will probably make my own way across under power (whilst i'm still in petrolhead mode) in the evening, and sail back with you all in the morning.

Damo, do you do petrol? Reeds says you do, blue book says you don't?

Not urgent just wondered as i usually refill with plastic 5 litre cans which can be a slow job.

Great, CC. I think Allan may be there too. He was trying to sneak off to Ilfracombe, but I reminded him that it was his round. I think he's going up tomorrow (Fri).

If the weather on Sat is like it was today, I'm going to need the biggest snifter I can find when I get up there.
