Down at the harbourside at MYC this weekend, and there was work afoot. Rock Engineering had driven in some bloody great galvanised RSJ's in the harbour floor and fastened them to the wall.

I will be there next week with camera for piccies.

Porthmadog Marina (titchy little 25 berth marina) is on its way and one of those pontoons has my name on it. 3 years for 3 grand, water and shore power laid on - I thought that was OK.

Well...its only taken 'em 20 years to decide! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Its great that the Welsh coast is to have another marina - there will be visitor berths I hope?

No!, no it's not great at all, yet another village anchorage ruined by an NCP car park.

Some planner needs a kick in the arse for this one.

Now, now Julian - you can't fool me just by changing your monika!

All the trots will remain, so too will the wall by the HM office. Its only along the wall by the club, which the club owns any way, then there is a little piece that goes out around where the nearest trots start. No big deal really. This aint no Pwllheli, nor will it ever be - it took 'em 20 years to get this far. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

In summer you can 8 or 9 boats rafted on that wall. From what you have said, 2 visitors berths.

Can somebody not add up.

Hi Andrew. You can see the harbour directly from the train station. Before you buy your tickets, take a walk over the bridge (on the main road) and turn in left directly after the bridge past the visitor centre and down past the HM office. You will go past the slip way on your left and the yacht club is right ahead of you. It doesn't look like a yacht club because it was once an old chapel building, so it kinda has that ecclesiastical look with church style windows. Maybe I will catch up with you there? If you want to meet up, send me a PM and I will send my mobile number over.

You might even get a beer out of me! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Julian,
It is not the clubs responsibility to provide visitors berths, its the harbour(master) and ultimately the Council. However the Council has given planning permission to the club which has effectively reduced the number of visitors berths that were available.

The ownership of the wall has been in dispute over the past 10-15 years that I know about. Recently I thought that it had been agreed that the Club owned it but the HM took mooring fees off me twice last year. I'm sure that Dave S will give a definite version of the situation. If the club does own it, it is in the interest of the Club to improve the facilities for its members and maximise its reveue.
