I am thinking of booking some marinas in Ibiza over the summer using Portbooker. They charge 10% deposit which inthis case will be about 120Euros. Before i part with cash, can anyone who has used this service comment on the reliability of the company please?
Many thanks

There was a Spanish operated 'port booker' mentioned on here about 2½ years ago and the reports were not at all favourable.

Be very, very wary! :(

I tried to use them last year but they came up with nothing. Instead I phoned the marina myself and got in.

I was in St. Eulalia Ibiza getting fuel on Thursday wasn't exactly bursting at the seems.

It is amazing how empty the marinas are at the moment.

I just delivered a yacht from Palma to Sotogrande. Palma nowhere near full. Cartagena empty, Almerima was like a ghost town and Sotogrande equally as bad.

Where have all the boats gone...

One comment Fuel by tanker at Cartagena was super. I booked them 24 hours ahead and they were almost waiting on the quay for me when I arrived 30 mins early. Brilliant service and cheapest I have paid for a while (outside of Gib)

Best thing to do is to call early morning and get yourself on the waiting list, you will then have to call back during the day to confirm that they have a berth. you will fond that you will be offered something around 1800 to 1900.

MAke sure you have all your numbers checked. Plus once you have been in to one of the harbours try and build up a rapport so that you can use the relationship to get back in.

Dear BGS,

I'm Andy Halcón, Deputy Director of Portbooker.
Let me explain a bit about this 10% of deposit.
Since we create the company, 6 years ago, we are manageing thousands of requests.
Last year we decided to charge a 10 % of deposit in some cases. The reason it was that we worked hard to find berths for our clients as requested and then a big part of the requests were rejected by the clients, so we and the marinas waste our time. So in order to get just those clients whoa are really interested to book a berth we ask for 10 % of deposit. This deposit is totally refunded in case that Portbooker do not find a berth for you in the choosen marina. I specify "in the choosen marina" because we look for a berth in closer marinas to the choosen one in case that this do not have availability. But as the client has not choose this alternative if he reject it we refund 100% of the deposit too.
In case we book a berth for you and you accept it we deduct the dposit of the total payment.
We just keep the deposit as management costs for these cases that we get a berth as the client requested and he reject it.
With this new system we have increased the booking confirmations because we use our time for real requests.

Please feel free to contact me at any time at ahalcon@portbooker.com

Kind regards

You own me 1500 euro from last year, i paid 3200 euro into your account but only 1700 was spend... That leaves 1500 euro left over that i want back... From this year i booked a berth in formentera which you didnt get to me, but you got my money again 324,72 euro have i paid to much... I am still waiting for you to transfer this money, xisca told me you will transfer this money... What is going on

Hi,
I just booked a mooring through Portbooker in Porto Cristo for more than 80€. Due to the weather, I had to change my plans two days before. They replied to my e-mail that this amount was non-refundable. By booking directly with the marinas, I paid less than 40€ everywhere else. So I have to agree with others in this thread that they are stealing people's money.

Re: Portbooker.com steal peoples money

Dear Alicante,

Thanks for your comment.
In order to check what is wrong in you case, please could you be so kind to tell me the name of your yacht and the locator number of your booking. If there is any amount from you in your account in Portbooker I will check it with the Accounting Dept. and proceed to refund it. I will also check what happened with your booking last year in Formentera.
Apologize for the delay in this reply but I've noted rigth now about your comment.

Dear Pravda,

Thanks for your kind email. About cancellation policies, each marinas has their own and we follow it. Most of the marinas/yacht clubs once they accept a booking they require for the payment in advance and no refund could be done in case of cancellation. About fees, we charged Porto Cristo's fees + Portbooker booking fee.
But in order to provide you of exact details about your case, could you be so kind to tell me you yacht details and locator number.
Best regards
