Portavadie fuel berth

On my last post on Portavadie a question was asked about the fuel berth.
It is on schedule to have a fuel berth with both diesel and petrol petrol open by the end of March 2008.
At this point the colour of the diesel is still in question. Awaiting the outcome of the present consultations on red diesel.
Also being installed is going to be toilet facilities on the pontoon to save the middle of the night walk to the main toilets.

I've been into Portavadie in Sept in quiet weather. What's it like making the entrance in a strong southwesterly ?

Hi Malcolm. I do not know, like you was the queitest of days when I was there. There are plans to widen the entrance in the future and raise the breakwater. Maybe you could email them info@portavadiemarina.com

I've done it. Went in there for shelter two or three years ago before it was refurbed. As far as I remember there was a south-westish F5... quite a big sea running.
The entrance is small right enough, but quite big enough even in those conditions. Besides.... after a very uncomfortable run from Arun and darkness approaching I was going to make that entrance come what may!!!
