If storms today. 5m waves per passage weather.

Portals hit with 4 boats sunk per Facebook group and 6 sunk per the guy who looks after my boat.

Adriano big waves over the wall.

I have pics but lord knows how you ever post them !

Thanks for the info,if you have any more please post it.

My boat is in adriano, hope its ok, its in the most sheltered part ,right in the back corner in the 'old' bit of the marina, so hopefully will be fine

I watched portals today via the webcam. Did not look as bad as the Adriano video. But think the port wall is more gradual than ardriano - so Adriano can look worse than it actually is.

4 sunk in portals
- this the port itself or outside? Didn't notice anything via the webcam. Guy who looks after my boot didn't mention anything.

I have pics of some outside marina but I don't know where they are are supposed to have been

The waves were big !

To think that our boat could have been in Potals!

Makes me glad she is where she is (can you spot her)....

Re puerto portals, Id be surprised if any boats actually in the marina (as opposed to just outside the entrance in the shelter of the sea wall) sank, the marina is pretty well protected, i guess if a boat were to be sunk it would be one moored on the sea wall.

Does anyone have any more info on the sunken boats, ie where they were?

Which Facebook group?

As far as i know they were all outside Portals.

My cross lines snapped which was prob in part chafing against the rib cradles. New lines covered in hose installed.

Apparently there was a 30m boat in Portals with engines running all day to keep it off the dock. The guy who looks after my boat is not sensationalist so i think it got pretty bad!

Facebook group is Boating In Mallorca which is a great resource.

Its only December!

I am in Andraxt which does not have the best winter reputation. It was pretty rough the other day so they moved me to probably the best berth in the marina until mid Feb which I was pretty pleased about. I am there until May so I hope they don't put me somewhere bad to make up for it!

When I said it didn't look too bad I more meant portals didn't look as bad as Adriano. However I have never seen waves crash over portals before so must have been pretty bad!

Thanks for the Facebook group - have joined.

Joined the Facebook group, fair number of videos and pics, thanks for that.

My fiancé’s parents are out there just now but not staying onboard due to an issue with the boat. They’re probably not too bothered about staying in a hotel with that weather!

I'm glad I'm not paying the x4 premium to have my boat on the islands.
All tucked up on a nice pontoon berth - we regularly get storm winds in the winter and it's rare a boat gets damaged, never mind white water crashing over the top.

I'll continue with my nice safe cheap berth and just pop over to the islands when it's nice.

Were any boats actually in the marina's damaged? Ithink the damage was confined to the boats outside the marinas, which is no great surprise.

I suppose it depends n how one defines damage.

My cross lines in Andraxt ( not hard hit) snapped ( chafing contributed ) so i would assume that in the marinas there are some boats with light damage, but nothing bad enough to hit social media!

I am not sure leaving a boat out of the marina all winter is in any event a wise idea!

I dont know of any damage sustained by boats in adriano, mine is fine (it would have to be a massive storm to damage mine given its location in the marina ),and a few others in various locations around the marina are also fine.

70 degress with sun and light winds in Sant Carles today. But a pig to get to and a bit dead in the winter.
