I have a suitcase type Honda generator (A red one, 1100 watts or thereabouts).
I have always wondered how I could keep the thing dry if I need some of those volts during the typical Scottish Summer, i.e. rain.

Do I need to worry? the socket is supposed to be weatherproof (exterior type plug/socket),would the generator be ok to use sitting on deck in damp weather? I sometimes see burger vans with generators running, in inclement weather. I just get twitchy thinking about water and 230 volt ac current.

Do you still have the instructions? Do they say anything about how wet it can get?

I ran one on a campsite once, and knocked up a little hutch around it using a spare groundsheet, a couple of poles, and a convenient fence. But I've no idea if that was necessary. If I had one on my boat, I might put together a little canvas awning for it - the details will obviously depend on where on the boat you run it.
