i find myself with two the above "tadpole" leads. I spect they are incredibly valuable, and the bidding can start at er, 1 pint. Alright, half a pint with the reserve being 1 pint.
tcm,
are these exclusively Port Solent, or do they also cater for lower grade arcs & sparks in other Marinas?
If they do, I match your requirement for 454ml, and raise it another 454ml. And I will put a couple of quid in the lifeboat tin too.
Please publish the pint to GBP exchange rate at the end of thae auction.
The 4 pin leads that Port Solent use have a device connected to the "spare" pin that identifies the lead. That's how they work out the bill.
When they issue a lead it is normally recorded to whom it is issued to so that they can identify the account. It doesn't automatically point to a berth - just the lead. If the lead was issued to you and they know your address electricity bills can follow on for some time after you have left the marina. I received a bill in October 2005 having left the winter berth (and the marina) in February 05, and having asked for a "full and final" bill.
As they are a 4 pin device, they are only any good at places that use the matching half. Possibly Premier Gosport if they have rewired, or Chi or Southsea.
Cheers
I was surprised, to say the least.
Also they are of Special Historical Significance, on account of my abilty to blow the lecky anytime i fancied. Although that was later traced to my dodgy shorepower wiring, not these leads.
There is currently no known conversion rate for Pint to GBP, as Pint includes Going To The Bar which is worth loads, tho not actually loads of money, i think.
Lifeboatwise, it is assumed that all forumites donate generously. However, it is perfickly acceptable to buy overpriced RNLI t-shirts at boat show that says "governor" onnem instead/as well.
Ah, then I have to announce my withdrawal from the auction, as I cant afford boat and Port Solent fees.
Hope you will excuse me, but I walk to the end of Southend Pier to the Lifeboat station for my yearly tin rattle, and the purchase of another (annual) sweatshirt. I have thus far eschewed the Guv'nor monicker, but we will see what they have in stock.
Wise not to declare the Pint/Pound ratio, as simple act of offering to go to bar without being asked has much value, as you rightly point out. I will attempt to act accordingly should we meet somewhere near a bar facility.
