Well, that's spoilt my day, boat finally back in for Easter, check that they've had a recent delivery of gas, and the answer I got back was "we don't sell LPG", well they did when the boat was lifted out and I had not received any word that it was stopping, so had a word with Dan Hughes (Marina Manager) and apparently Calor wrote to them in February to inform them that they were stopping supply and considering their position, and that they would not be maintaining the pump equipment. So as the safety certificate has since lapsed Port Solent can no longer sell the stuff.

Must admit Dan was very good about siting down and explaining as much as he knew, he was not to pleased that they were only informed by letter, gave me the name and number of the chap, a Paul Riding at Calor Marine, so will give him a call myself, but not holding out much hope.

There are about 12 or so of us here that use the stuff, plus a few from Hasler that make the trip to fill up, so you'd think we'd be worth retaining... damn shame about the whole situation, glad my conversion had been done by previous owner, although it was a reason for buying at the time.... anyone else know anything since the February threads?

Steve...

You will still be able to get LPG in the Solent - Tanks are being kept at Sparkes Marina in Chi, Warsash (Hamble) and Lymington. Cowes and Yarmouth have gone!

There is still LPG in Chichester Marina, I know because the pump is right next to my boat and has been making a racket all morning!

Hi you guys,

I am a Diesel user but very sympathetic, somebody spent much time, effort and money in order to cut use of petrol, then gets stomped on like this. The government makes noises about us being environmentally sensitive, companies get interested in taking up the challenge, then very soon after, it goes like sand through your fingers.
Thoughts of failed booze ups in breweries spring to mind.
Why for heavens sake? Just what IS going on here?

Unfortunately with the size of my tanks I'd use it all up by the time I got back! hopefully they'll see sense and keep one in Portsmouth Harbour too, we'll see...
