To settle a bar disagreement from which spreader should a courtesy flag be flown ? Also a house flag ? Port or Starboard or doesn't matter . A bottle of Glenfiddich hangs on the outcome and I'm getting thirsty !!

Starboard for courtesy flag and port for house flag, can also be flown below courtesy flag.

Will I send you my address for the bottle?

Well, yes. There is an order of seniority for the positions in which any flag may be flown on board and the ensigns demands first position and the courtesy flag demands second, thus denoting one's own nationality and the salute to the country whose waters you are navigating. For any who would ask how an ensign may be worn on the leech of the mizzen or main of a sloop, this is the alternative to the taffrail.

Now I know I need to get out more!

Rob.
