Port clearance?

Hi folks,
End of June I will be sailing from UK to the Canary Islands to continue from there to the Caribbean end of November.

My questions are:

1. Do I need clearance out of UK to sail to the Canaries (which is EU territory).

2. Can I in the Canaries get clear out documents to present to the authorities in my first port of call in the Caribbean? That will probably be Trinidad or Tobago.

I'm a bit confused on these matters because the Canaries are said to be politically EU, but outside of EU customs rules.

Kind regards Klaus

What I did....
posted papers into HM office in Falmouth, to say you might be leaving eu....
You have to clear into Canaries and give them crew list passport numbers etc...and then when you leave they will give you a clearance sheet for your intended destination.
As we weren't sure where we were headed for they gave us two, one for Trinidad and one for Barbados, so I still have a nice stamped headed clearance sheet from Gomera which was the TRini one we didn't use as a souvenir.
On arrival back in UK went to harbour office in Fowey and there was no one home...but we'd aleady cleared in Azores/Spain and France.

We cleared in to the Canaries, first at our first port of call, and then whenêver someone asked us to. Why not?
We left for Brazil, and had been told that it was necessary to clear out, by some dockside lawyer, so we went to the police station in Gomera, and asked for clearance. He was a little puzzled, -porque?- but stamped our passport with the stamp that he used for lost dogs and umbrellas. We were never asked for any proof of clearance out, in Brazil or any where else in two years cruising.
