Hi
Heikell draws a big circle of doom (silting) on his chartlet which is about where I think I might drop my anchor.
Anyone know what the current depths in the harbour are like, and how likely it is to be crammed this week?
We draw 2 meters
Cheers
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan
We was in there earlier this year in May we also have 2 mts keel and Rudder , we had no problem , there is a shallow spot on one part of the quay but it's very soft mum so the most that will happen is it will slow you down , the deepest part is where the old ferry use to moor .

Just left there this morning and the depths are fine for visitors, I'm not sure what the issue is with "Rod the
god". Fonda the Harbour tax collector is very helpful and will help you tie up etc.

I have been in Poros many times and never had a problem with a 2.10m draft. The main issue with Poros is the crossed anchor one.

Its a hot, hot place at present but and excellent jumping off point for Zakintos.

Reporting back after our visit.
It looks like the shallow area is now confined to the end of the quay adjacent to the fishing harbour, and maybe out a bit from there. The harbour guy was directing Cats to tie at the fishing end. but said anywhere else along the quay was fine. I would reckon that's about mid-way between the two water tap symbols on Heikell's Ionian pilot (8th ed).
We were a bit miffed as having got a good spot towards the north end of the quay the harbour guy insisted we move South for "safety" reasons (he wanted all the yachts rafted) and we then ended up with chain spaghetti as some late arrivals were pretty random chain droppers. With all this moving around we ended up surveying practically the whole harbour and didn't seem to pick up depths below 4 meters anywhere.

With the problem above ...If anyone directs you to do something that you are not happy with, ask for their credentials and a signed paper with their instructions on, PP included. Remain polite at all times though .

Was there yesterday.
The depth is no problem. There were 45 footers moored along the whole wall. Nobody had any problem with depth. If you draw deep, you can moor at the old ferry quay. According to the harbour master, it has 7 meters of depth there. You can just catch the wifi of the local bar there too (and the all night noise...)
