if you were in college in an IT room checking out a sailing blog you might be surprised to see that image so I sort of see where they are coming from ( that is taking into account the sherman tank factor)

I would hate to see a bit of free spirited humour along with so many other things silenced by the PC police. The photograph cannot be pornographic by any normal standards as pictures like this are not top shelf material. Furthermore a joke is clearly being intended.

in the interests of accurate reporting rather than sensationalist journalism, the original letter on the ammerican site was this:

Since the smoking ban came in in the UK some companies insist that employees clock in and out when they go for a smoke then make up the time later.
If the same rule applied to private internet surfing some workers would never get to go home.

I can speak on this with some knowledge as I for years ran a division of one of the largest US banks.
The policy was clear:
1. Limited personal use OK but don't waste time.
2. Certain sites were blocked/banned
3. Unintentional hits were NOT a disciplinary offences
4. Breaking the law was, however, a dismissable offence
So Mr Dietz has no need to worry at all. In fact if he were terminated for this any half decent lawyer - plenty in the US - would get him a very tidy settlement.
Why is he not just honest and say; "I don't like it so don't do it"? instead of trying to blame austere compliance.

Should I ask the IPC moderator to bring back the photo? They are missing a great commercial opportunity to cross promote website content on their other sites (eg Nuts and Loaded).
Actually I thought it was company policy to feature nudity whenever possible. They even did it for the frontispiece of The Field... though it was in much better taste; she was wearing a string of pearls.
