It's called advertising! Helps em pay for the site so we don't have to! If you don't like it......... well. No doubt the site traffic is such that it is attracting advertisers. Had to happen!

Ahh a man after me own heart - I must stop using using e-bay. Pity they haven't got a "I don't want to buy anything" option.

Hi

To block any pop-ups go to Google.
Do any search.
At the bottom of the result page you will find a link to download the google tool bar.
This has a very effective pop-up blocker.

I have been using it for about a year with no ill effects.

Where do you mean?

If you are referring to the forums we are not hosting any pop-ups -- if you are seeing any on here you have a local browser spyware infection.

Elsewhere on ybw.com we are carrying a limited campaign of pop-ups for Jeep and our usual pop-unders for magazine subs.

That's what I meant Kim. Looks like Solitaire has got one too if he sees them on the Forums.

I wonder what the site costs them to run? I bet its not much other than staffing costs keeping us in check!

Re: POP-UPS - XP sp2

If you upgrade your operating system to XP service pack 2 you'll find that Pop ups are automatically blocked.

Plus animated buttons, is there a way round this?, as it makes for dull websites, using hot spots for intrim.

Re: POP-UPS - XP sp2

It's got new security features, such as firewall, popup stopper etc, but if you already have these installed, there is the option of not turning on the SP2 versions. It certainly doesn't take over the computer in any way that I have noticed?

I have been using SPack 2 for some time with no problems. Does stop most popups however which is a merciful release.
