Ask a rigger. Not sure where you are relative to a local rigger, but the length of the rivet is determined by the thickness of the mast and the thickness of the bracket with the size of the hole being taken into account as well. A rigger will not only be able to advixe you on the correct ones, but sell you a handful of the correct monel rivets to do the job. They aren't cheap - but it will only be a couple of pounds to get the correct ones.

You then need to borrow a big rivet gun...

In Plymouth I know where to go, but not sure where you would go in Lancashire!

Agree if you can't get a powerfull rivet gun then go for drill and tap the mast for suitable sized bolts. Then use duralac on the thread to prevent corrosion. A tap is quite cheap to buy. olewill

Re: pop rivets

No one has actually answered your question yet! There was another recent thread here on this topic, and the general consensus was that the rivet length should protrude by at least 1 x the diameter. Also make sure the rivet is the correct size for the hole. If you decide to tap a hole instead just use A4 stainless machine screws.
In either case, screws or rivets, you'll need to use Duralac, as others have suggested.

[/ QUOTE ]Here for a small list of suppliers. or there is "MacRae's Blue Book" which lists more suppliers. Guess maybe you do live in a backwater. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
