We were Fishing off my mates Targa 34 just off Shell Island in Noth Wales when we saw this coming towards us.

And as it got closer we could see how big it was.
Its difficult to get the scale in the photo but I estimate it was about a foot accross. We do get plenty of Jelly fish around there but I have never seen them this big before.

Yup, I've seen a larger jelly (probably a Man o' War) when anchored just north of Start Point in Devon in 2003. I thought is was a piece of floating plastic at first but it turned out to be a jelly about 2-3ft across with stingers several feet long. There were kids swimming in the water from other anchored boats nearby and I was sufficiently concerned to send one of my crew out in the tender to warn other boats. I think large jellies are fairly common in UK waters

The water is clear too at the mo.
Drifted through the Swellies at low water last Fri am.

Could see the bottom quite clearly in bits.
Lots of fishy stuff swimming about (as they do I suppose)! dunno what make they were but lots of em.
Peeps are catching bass (cept MajorCatastrophe)! at the Southern end.

Wrong bit of water kipper /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Lot's of 'standard' jellies about but no monsters.
Early for the time of year.
Dunno what that means.
Probably Global Warming innit /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The team affixed 11 tags in the area last year ...

One whole summer, and eleven jellyfish.... I don't think I could stand the pace!

Come August the Irish Sea and Morecambe bay are littered with them, impressive things though and make a good thump when they hit your rudder.
