I'll be heading into Cobbs on Saturday morning. According the gumph I've read I'll be going against the sequence, so a third lift would be desirable. Do I call the bridge operator on the VHF, or would they see I want to get through and lift without being requested?

The latest Notice says mornings Twin Sails opens on the half hour, Poole 15 minutes later. !5.30 on Poole first, Twin Sails after. First bridge will open again for returning vessels if required. Logical as most boats going out in morning and returning in afternoon.

Yes. But do I have to request the third lift (for returning vessels if required) or will it happen without me asking? I'll be heading INTO Cobbs in the morning, so going against the sequence.

Does not say anything about a need to call. The bridge and approaches is monitored by CCTV. Why not call the harbour office 440210 and ask them?

I've been through a couple of times against the flow and they see you want to go through and the third lift happens. I.e. I have not had to call.
