Did anyone else notice the smell of sewage in the bay over the weekend? Off Poole Bar and 0.5ml eastwards on Friday the smell was really bad (about 2hrs before local LW so on an ebb tide, on Sunday we smelled the same though not as strong about 1.5mls east of Poole Bar, also with an ebb tide. No visible effluent was seen, but I haven't noticed anything like this in the bay for many many years, so do they have a problem with the treatment plant or something?

funnily enough I was looking anxiously at the crew as we headed past Aunt Betty Friday morning - I hope it was related

A couple of times today in Blood Alley and the Upper Wych Channel we were getting odd whiffs of something unpleasant. Didn't stop the kids swimming. Good for their immune systems.

Not sure I would eat any fish caught round there either and unlike Jimi we know we have a holding tank and where it is so it wasn't a grim discovery lurking in the bilges.....

We didn't get a whiff inside the harbour, but both times in the same area at a similar stage of the tide. Yuk!

We thought it might be agricultural, with a local farmer adding to the fertility of the earth, and not related to water quality. Anyway, as a swimmer in said water, I hope so!
