Hmmm - I reckon this is going to be pretty tight for a few of us, does anyone here happen to know what the open leaf gives us width wise? I get twitchy lining up to go through when they're both up!

The clear span between the fender timbers beneath the lifting spans is about 18.25m
So with one leaf down you have 9.125m horizontally from fender timbers to the end of the lowered span.
However the actual width available will depend on what floating kit / Access the Contractor is using under the lowered span and the raised span's tower as this might encroach into the 'free' space.
Whilst the navigation has to remain open I can't recall a minimum width being stated.
The Contractor has an info board for the public on display with a contact number for the Site manager on it. The one I saw is on the Poole side. He should be able to tell you what width he has to provide.

thanks for the dimensions, I found a bit of info on an older news update on the Poole Harbour Commission pages, they are quoting aprox 6m avail, so they must have some scaffolding or such in there too I guess. That's too tight for my nerves - I'll be waiting for the weekends or it'll be early starts (the latest schedule for the next few months is on their page too, in case others need it). P

Went out the other week with just the one span up and found it a bit nerve racking tbh, and I'm only a MF645,
You've got to be real careful as there's lots of diving operations going on using floating pontoons both sides which don't help.
Wouldn't like to try it at full ebb

Went through this week and it is tight..you can pass a beer to tbe guy hammering away..mind ypu I guess Sseeker move boats through?
