Behind the oil jetty opposite the Stakes Buoy are three old wrecks. They appear to be WWII landing craft but I could easily be wrong.

What were they and why did they end up where they are without being removed?

After passing them many times over the last twenty years I would love to know their history. Can anyone help.

Going back to the very early 70's when we used to sail a pioneer puffin around Poole harbour I remember (not only there were no houses beyond Woodlands avenue) but also sailing around a huge line of landing craft.
There was even a couple of mtb's moored at the end of Cobbs Quay - which was a 'working' site rather than the very nice site it is now
