Since Poole bridge has been "Operated Remotely" Its ruddy terrible. It never opens even close to time, today was "going out 7 mins late" "going In was 9 mins late" and then it started to close before I went through. !!!!! Had a rant on the radio at the bridge operator but still had to go through on a red light. I have seen people wait for twenty mins and still not got let through.
I am going to have a moan at the council. Any ideas how to get this service improved.
(Blackmail etc all considered !!!!!!)

Wasn't aware of this. When did the remote operation start? Where's it operated from. Punctuality has never been the strong point of bridge operation, but never experienced it as bad as you indicate. Late operation is usually attributed to 'technical difficulties'.

every time it lifts late for me, as soon as someone gets on the radio they then lift
i reckon there busy.....
playing cards...
sat on toilet reading the paper...

I believe the bridge was originally operated from the CG office by the side of the bridge, now I am told it is operated from the council office. The only view the operator gets is via two CCTV cameras that cant see past the moored ferries or down to Dolphin haven / Poole Quay marina.

It does seem that once you call them the bridge normally starts the lift sequence -10+ minutes late!
Depending who answers depends on the reply, but whoever when they get pushed it's 'we have other duties as well', but for me as far as I am concerned regardless of other duties the 10:30 bridge is at 10:30, saying that I did hear once the reply we have a 15 minute leeway either side of the lifting time - that could prove interesting - 15 minutes early.

What fun it will be when the "Twin sails" bridge is completed! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

After reports the whole scheme had fallen through, a story HERE suggests work might start next autmn.

<edit> P'raps they're buggering you all around now so that you've got used to it in time for the first "opening"...............
