The Harbourmaster at Polperro has asked me to help publicise the contact information because Reeds and other sources are out of date.
Telephone 07966 528045
All the working boats at Polperro are on VHF channel 17. If the Harbourmaster isn't there someone else will help.
The Harbourmaster's boat is "Smuggler" and he is very friendly and helpful.
We paid £10 for a night on the visitors' buoys. We would have stayed longer but an east wind was forecast.

Lovely pic TwoHooter, and it looks a very pretty town and harbor. Unfortunately we didn't have time to explore, as we were under some time pressures. I plan to reverse the trip at some point, at least along the south coast. Slight note of caution, not all boats are as well equipped as yours to stay on a buoy overnight.

Absolutely +1 on the pic, a beautiful view indeed! :encouragement:

I hope you don't mind me asking, but wasn't it more logical to moor the other way round, i.e. with the stern facing the village and the bow towards the open sea?
Mind, I know nothing about that place... And just curious, anyway! :)

Thanks for the kind words about the photo, and special thanks to michaf for putting me on to the polaroid filter for the "selfie stick".

Mapism - Yes, it would have been more logical. We had planned to put our bow line on the outer buoy then turn the boat and go astern to pick up the inner buoy from the swim platform. But when we arrived there was a dory on the inner western buoy and two yachts moored to the eastern buoys so it all felt a bit tight, probably because it was our first visit. The Harbourmaster's son came out in a little inflatable and took our bow line, put it on the inner western buoy and moved the dory out of the way while we picked up the outer buoy. Once we were tied on I had no appetite for any more manoeuvres and the forecast was excellent so we stayed where we were. By the time we left I had got the hang of the place and found it easy to turn - the yachts had gone but even if they had still been there I could have done it OK. When we go back I will try and moor the "right" way round.

Know it well and it's a beautiful spot; did you get to the three pilchards for some food? Amazing monkfish! :)
You did far better than us, always too much swell or not enough nerves to spend too long in there...worth the effort in sure.
