Hi all.

I have just spent a wonderful two weeks on Thames and met some lovely people. The one thing that spoilt it was my last day there.

I was moored in the garden of the New Inn. Part of the moorings were taken by the swans and geese and not a very pleasant spot to moor as there is a lot of poo around. That is not a problem, I just moored a little way down and away from the poo.

Whilst quietly cooking my afternoon meal a blue narrowboat approached. I recognised it immediately due to the oversized headlight stuck on the front which looks really ridiculous, oh s**t I thought. Yes, it was the same boat I tried to assist in a lock a couple of years ago and the owner was very rude to me as I wrapped the rope around the bollard and returned the rope to his poor wife in the front to the boat. He wanted it tied solid and was most aggressive in telling me what he wanted. I nearly threw the rope back on his boat. It was only out of pity for his poor little wife that I tied it down. He then proceeded to reverse the boat, slamming it into the lock wall. Surprisingly, the lock keeper never said a word about the attempted demolishment of his lock! The man then proceeded to bore the pants off everybody around him by telling them what a great person he was.

Anyway, back to Lechlade, there was obviously not much space behind me but he insisted in pulling the boat in behind me. Oh hell I thought, he has his sights on me to bore my pants off as he did a few days before to every other narrowboat owner in Oxford (he mercifully left me alone there). As he pulled the boat in he whacked my auxiliary engine and then allowed the boat to surge forward making contact with my main outboard motor cowling. These things are not cheap and can be easily damaged by an out of control narrowboat. Since there was plenty of mooring space on the meadow why I wonder did he bother attempt to moor in such a small space?
