I have a boat which has a varnished hull, top structure, interior etc. It is a yearly job!! In between yearly coats I would like to use a polish to remove marks and improve the shine. What polish would be suitable?
Thanks

Old fashioned furniture polish was, I think, beeswax softened with turpentine. [Melt the beeswax and stir in the turpentine.] However, if you apply anything like this, it is going to impair the sticking ability of the next coat of varnish if you are less than thorough with sanding back. Most other polishes will have the same effect. Better to rely on a really good finish on the substrate to give you a fine even gloss on the last coat of varnish.
Peter.
