As of this week, I'm now the proud owner of a 2004 Monterey 265 with all of 35 hours on the clock! She is in great condition but having not been cleaned or polished up for a while she could do with some attention. Normally I would do this myself but I think a professional 'valet' may be in order first time out to really make her shine. As I am going to be dry stacking her in Saxon Wharf I also need to get the anti-foul removed I believe. So, can anyone suggest a good company to go to in order to do the following at Saxon:

  • Remove anti-foul
  • Clean hull and top decking
  • Polish hull and top decking
  • Wax hull (and top decking?)

Thanks

Grant

Grant,

We use MD Marine Clean for all our boat show & other boat prep work.
Call Martyn on 07733 368156.

They are good and always do a good job.

Mike.

Hull cleaning and polishing

For a one stop shop (and therefor a better price) give Mark Tugwell at the Antifoul Removal Company a call. He will take the bottom of the boat back to pristine GRP, and will also do a very good valet. He did my boat prior to sale and did an excellent job.

The other good news for you is he is based just up the river at Shamrock Quay so is very local. Mention the forum and you will also get a discount.

His website can be found here: http://www.arccompany.co.uk/

Mark Tugwell, thats a name to remember.:)

Just why does a young boat need it's anti fouling taken off??

Mine has about 22 coats on and I'm still recomended to keep it.

If your antifoul was applied in the factory then you may have a chance but if anyone has done the job properly then your hull will be scratched to pieces underneath to give the key needed.
Can understand them not wanting antifoul as it will come off on their forks every time they lift you.
