Polishing S/S

This question has probably been asked many times before..so please forgive me asking again... My boat has been unused for a year of so and requires a bit of TLC. All the stainless fittings are a bit grotty and need a good polish...what is the best polish/cleaner or whatever to use for this.. I tried Solvol polish which worked reasonably well, but I am sure that the forumites have better ideas. All advice gratefully received.

Paper wirh 1600 emery, it os so fine it just apears to buff the object, easily available in strip rolls from engineers merchants , followed by polish with autosolovolsol from motor factors.

solvo on a slow buffing wheel gets a finish better than new

OK then.. solvol it is ....never heard of " shiny sinks",but will give it a whirl. Thanks all.
