I have a crew applicant from Poland, with a Polish Yacht Association skipper's licence. I wonder if any members of the forum know what it would be equivalent to in RYA terms? I can't seem to find it on the internet. (Probably unavailable in English?) She is unfamiliar with the RYA, so is unable to be much help. I'll probably take her anyway, but now it's piqued my curiosity! Many thanks.

This is from the appropriate section on the Polish Yachting Association's website :

There seems to be a lower "sailor's exam", and then a 'yacht skipper/helmsman's exam" as below :

What documents should I take with me for the yacht ski helmsman exam?
During the examination, the following documents must be presented to the examination board:

Documents confirming the completion of at least two seawater cruises in a total time of at least 200 hours of navigation.

How is the yacht skippers helmsman exam organized?

The exam consists of a theoretical and practical part.

The theoretical part is written and consists of a one-time selection test / 75 questions / and a navigational task and the solution is 120 minutes. A positive result of this part of the exam provides 65 correct answers and a properly solved navigation task.

The practical part of the examination includes the examination elements selected by the committee, determined individually for each examinee. The correct result of the practical test is the correct performance of all elements indicated by the examiner to be carried out. During the practical part it is allowed to repeat a badly made piece once. The exam is conducted on one-masted sea yachts with a hull length of at least 7 m equipped with a reverse engine, wind strength 1-6 on the Beaufort scale on the water with an accessible deck equipped with mooring equipment and an available mooring buoy.

The condition for passing the exam is to obtain a positive grade from both parts.

Hello Ohlin

Have you contacted the RYA? They are always extremely helpful on technical questions like this.
