Had a trawl of the historical posts and people seemed quite impressed with the product.... after a year or two's use, are people still happy.... ... whatabout maintainance.

The cut back and wax worked find for me for a couple of years but the gelcoat seems quite faded and porous again and I would like to avoid cutting back again.

I'll let you know this time next year.... just ordered a kit to give it a try....

I too would have cut back and polished, but a bit concerned that as the boat is 30yrs old in 5 weeks time, then the gel is probably getting a bit thin now........

And can't afford (or indeed justify the cost on a boat of this value) to get it resprayed...

Have a 30 y/o boat & did some of the coachroof & cockpit about 2 years ago. It has held up very well so far & looks well set for a good few years yet. My only problem is various bits of discolouration of the gelcoat, prior to application of Poliglow. The discolouration is of course still there, so despite being beautifully polished, it looks not very attractive. I really need to get the entire topside cleaned back & painted if I want an homogenous colour scheme! However, maybe next year!
As for the Poliglow, I have nothing but praise, although you do need a bit of elbow grease to clean the gelcoat ready for application, and a nice warm, dry, calm day for the application.

I too have used poliglow and was very pleased with the results. It is however very soft and is easily rubbed off when chafed by warps and fenders. It therefore needs regular touching up - but that also is easy
