Just doing the annual review into the optimum method of getting the sheen back onto my Broom 42's grp finish. Have read the recent threads but then saw a link for Poliglow products which based on the reviews in magazines looks to be v good.

Has anyone any hands on experience with them though?

Have you done a search of the forums? Poliglow has certainly been discussed a couple of times at least.

We've used Polyglow.

First on a 17 1/2 footer, then on a 23 footer. Quite labour intensive (I wouldn't even think about doing a 42 footer), but does gives a lovely shine. Unfortunately, life being what it is, it doesn't last a whole season (or at least didn't for us). We did find that it didn't like going on so well when the weather's very cold - you get a slightly streaky appearance (tho' still a great improvement on tired gelcoat).

You can see the latter result by clicking on the link to the Samphire website below - see the blue boat in slings in the centre picture on the home page. You'd have to have seen the rather matt appearance of the 30 year old gelcoat before application (or at the end of the season) to fully appreciate the effect.

I think we'll continue to use it (might skip this season due to cold and illness), partly because we've still got some left, partly because it's a job that the First Mate enjoys doing because it has such a dramatic and positive effect on how the boat looks.

(We've no connection with the product or its suppliers by the way.)
