Pointless self tapping screws

I need a large quantity of these but they appear to be non standard. The sample I have is almost like a machine screw with a very coarse wood thread and no taper.

Anybody come across anything like this?

Can't suggest a supplier as yet, but the description, made me think of the screws used in the automotivce trade to attach lining panels. Of course, to a boaty that isn't so much help as car builders tend not to concern themselves with rust potential!
