Can anyone tell me if there's a limit to one's space for PM's and messages please?
If so, how do i clear out some of the old ones?

Open your message box and click on show all. Each message has a tick box and when you tick one an option opens up at the bottom of the page allowing you to delete/leave conversation or, other actions.

Yes, there is a limit. I don't know what that limit is. Once you reach it you will get messages telling you so, and that you will have to move/delete some messages in order to be able to create or receive any more messages.
