Hi All
We are taking a family short cruise for the new year, SWMBO is most concerned about the weather conditions and sea state, so historically what are the conditions like over the new year period on this route does anyone know????

Thanks
Julian

Like any boating, its the luck of the draw, I have crossed the Bay on Three occasions en route and returning from Christmas Carribean cruises, on two the weather was fine both ways. well, the normal rolling big swells, which even on P&O's finest can prove somewhat uncomfortable and vomit inducing.
The last time the return from Vigo was through a NW force11, The ship (the Oriana) sustained some minor damage, our cabin was 5 decks above sea level and it was just like being in a washing machine (i should imagine) with big seas breaking right over the windows, dinner that night was fun and a couple of elderly people sustained minor injuries from falls, but nothing serious. Go for it northern spain can be superb at that time of year.

Check your insurance policy, most will not allow the passage at that time of year. Doesnt mean you will hit problems though, crossed the bay a couple of times and been fine.
