plotter again

I bought the NASA twin instrument mounting.
Looks good from the front, but the back is a design disaster.
I modified it by cutting lumps off the ugly plastic mounting protuberances and it now looks very good.
On the plus suide, it was not expensive.

The only gps (not plotter) I can think of that will fit flush to a bulkhead is an old AP Mk8 GPS, which is waterproof - if you can get hold of one.

I got a 2nd hand unit that I have mounted outside the motor-sailer cabin, for use when sailing. They are quite basic, but give the info you want.

They are still about, for sale 2nd hand.

G'day Simon,

Flat mounting of most instruments is made difficult because the data and power cables often plug into the back at 90 degrees.

I have made a few instrument pods for bulkhead mounting for clients; made out of foam composite for lightweight racers and marine ply with a matching veneer for the more traditional craft. cables are less noticeable if run from the side of the pod to the hull and then follow the bullhead to hull join down, this also provides some protection.

The last pod had all the repeaters, compass, log, wind speed and direction, depth sounder and clock mounted at eye level when seated at the nav table.

This might be an alternative for you.

Avagoodweekend......
