Pleiades class on the Clyde

Godesses?

Never heard of an actual class of Pleiades on the Clyde, but maybe you are referring to the Gareloch One Design class based at Rhu.

There were quite a few one-design classes on the Clyde. Perhaps the best known are the Loch Longs (I hanker after one) but there were also - amongst others - the Gareloch OD, the Innellan Class ... and the Pleiades. Seven boats named after the seven principal stars in the constellation. I think they may have been the class in which using a new mainsail for racing required the unanimous consent of all the other owners.

Still, it's great to see that the Gareloch OD fleet is still intact and healthy. Thanks for that.

Yes, I know all about the LL's as a family we had:

LL41 Nochte
LL57 Calpe
LL51 Flymm
LL113 Pat

I have many memories of drifting about in them in the pouring rain in the Kyles or being terrified hanging onto the mast step in a blow!

Where were the Pleiades based?
