PLEASE PLEASE Those who haven\'t booked yet - please read this post

Harold Hayles is now full - BUT the new "walk-ashore" pontoon provided by HM will be available via a block booking - BUT this relies on YOU to contact "Windfall" as she is helping us to secure the pontoon.

It requires a minimum of 5 boats to book and pay deposit ... so PLEASE PM Windfall asap to get a place ... please also agree with her about payments - as no-one wants to be left holding the "plate" ....

C'mon slow-coaches stop dragging your kedges !!!

Nigel

Have you spoken again to the Harbour master? Coz what you've just said doesnt' match what he told me.

As I understand it, he might accept a block booking for the floating (green) rally pontoon if we can get at least 5 boats to pay a deposit of £12 (refundable against mooring fees)providing we are a recognised yacht club. I don't mind organising that part....although as you say I'm not prepared to stump up £60 of my own...but I'm sure we can get over that somehow.

The walk ashore pontoon will be bookable sometime in March (probably toward the end of) but it is only bookable by individual boats. Expressions of interest can be emailed to Linda on info@yar-iow-harbour.demon.co.uk I don't particularly want to organise tihs for people. As it is something they can do for themselves.

This whole booking procedure is beginning to feel like something from the mind of Lewis Carroll!

But I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

Oh yes, Vic Mallows emailed me to ask if I could book him in for Friday & Sat on the walk ashore pontoon...as he is arriving Friday he probably doesn't need to book. I'm waiting to hear back from him.

I have the impression that he doesn\'t know what he wants...

The e-mail from his office is plain and says clearly about block booking ... and individuals later after pontoon is connected to shore.
The bit about Recognised YC - I only heard that from yourself once he'd added that .... it was never mentioned in any conversation / e-mails I have.

I'm coming over to UK end of March - so may just take a trip down to Yarmouth when out on the boat ... give HM a visit ...

Anyway - I was led to believe that deposit was fiver not 12 quid ???? The figure of 60 quid was based on the 12 boats that didn't get Harold Hayles placing. So 5 boats would be 25 quid ...

Maybe if I have a CONFIRMED WILL BE THERE list for who wants HM berth and will pay their deposit - I can see about HM when I get there end of march ... but no promises as I'm going back for my Elderly Mother mostly ...

Sharon,

Did (think I had) replied directly to your PM by email yesterday, but checking the 'sent' file just now something clearly didn't work.

In essence, I said that I was essentially trying to help make up numbers, but in view of your email comments (and now later ones) thought it better to revert to original intentions of taking a chance on the day (don't mind the outside moorings if necessary).

Know how you feel! ...... our Club has for some time taken the view it's not worth the effort ....or financial risk. Was same at the Folly for a time, but they eventually saw sense.

Vic,

I thought you wanted to be on the walk-ashore pontoon. If you're happy with the floating pontoon then I don't mind approaching the harbour master again to say that I have a definate group of 5.

He was very pleasant last week, just a bit harrased........But I can do sympathetic really well!

Sympathy .....

I really need some !!

This week past - SWMBO was seriously ill ... and I had 3 dogs, 2 cats and the horse to look after .... try and work, fuel additive decided to freeze in the cold spell we had ... a week I do not want to repeat !!!!

SWMBO is now coming out of it and already moaning at me - so situation normal !!

Re: PLEASE PLEASE Those who haven\'t booked yet - please read this post

Yes .... the floating pontoon is fine....had assumed that it was this that was being connected to shore, but obviously not. After all, I have to dinghy out to my own mooring /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So please include me on your list for Friday and Saturday after all!

Vic 'SUNDASH'

The connected pontoon ...

As I understand it - they are connecting the pontoon that is opposite Harold Hayles ... which will then connect direct to wharf with HM office on.To be quite honest it only needs one more section to connect to the "dinghy" pontoon at the inner end next to the bridge !!

When talking to them in the HM office last year ... they reckoned that connecting it and putting water and / or electric would change their status from a Harbour to a Marina and increase Tax's etc. on the "Port" .... and that was one of the reasons they have resisted for so long ...

Re: PLEASE PLEASE Those who haven\'t booked yet - please read this post

While young Vic was broadcasting to the world(?) he didn't actually tell me dates and plans for this May bash! Something about Priory Bay on Tuesday, and the mailbox of an Organiser who hasn't switched on yet, nowt else. Anyone awake out there to fill in the gaps?

Yarmouth BBQ - May 27 - 28 2006

All other details are here in the forum.
Just post here that you are attending, and I'm sure he or others will provide all other details you require.

It would probably be wise to read through this forum, as it will provide a great deal of the information you require, before you start asking questions that have already been answered.

Said organiser - me ... has had a well earned R & R last few days !

ALL info is in this forum and basically book yourself onto Yarmouth Harbour Master pontoon and join in ... May 27 ~ Bank Holiday Weekend bash ....
